One has to wonder about the rank of those killed in action. This is not the first time I've seen the question asked by relatives of the deceased where their loved one had written advising of a promotion which the army later denied. Perhaps details were lost due to conditions at the time. I imagine it was very upsetting for the family, implication being that their son or husband had lied. In my opinion, highly unlikely. |
